ROMEO, Michigan — The V12 Vantage, Aston Martin's most powerful production sports car, is now available to customers taking advantage of the company's U.S. performance driving course at the Michigan Proving Ground here.
Other vehicles available for the one-day course include the DBS, the Rapide and the V8 Vantage.
The V12 Vantage, with 510 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, is capable of speeds up to 190 mph. The two-seater is the company's fastest and most agile sports car.
"The V12 Vantage is a thoroughbred sports car and the miles of track covered at the course will give participants the opportunity to experience its capabilities during a thrilling day of performance driving," spokesman Julian Jenkins said.
The Aston Martin Performance Driving Course was established five years ago, its goal to give participants "an opportunity to experience the dynamic capabilities of an Aston Martin in a safe yet exhilarating high-speed environment." In addition to the U.S. venue, sessions are available at Millwood, England, and Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium.
The course costs $2,500 — hardly cheap, except perhaps in comparison to the price tag of the V12 Vantage, which starts at $184,000.
Inside Line says: This course was originally offered exclusively to Aston Martin owners, but has since been opened to potential customers as well. — David Green, Correspondent
