    What Is It?

    What's Special About It?

Aston Martin is widely known for its elegant, fast sports cars, and there's no better example than the 460-horsepower Aston Martin Vanquish. Until now. Aston has created an even quicker, more capable version of its flagship model, dubbed the Vanquish S. The new S boasts a maximum speed in excess of 200 miles per hour from its 520-hp, 6.0-liter V12 engine. These engine specifications translate into the fastest Aston Martin ever built.

In order to make the best use of the increased power, the Vanquish S also receives modifications to several of its mechanical systems. Steering has been improved to provide quicker response, and a tightened-up suspension, including stiffer springs and dampers, and shorter steering arms is standard. Larger brakes were also incorporated to rein in the immense power.

On the outside, the Vanquish S receives subtle changes. The grille has been rounded to improve engine cooling, and an aerodynamic splitter aids stability at high speeds. Inside, the seating options remain the same as in the standard Vanquish — either a two-seat configuration or a 2+2 setup; while leather-trimmed sport seats are unique to the S.

    What's Edmunds Take?

The Vanquish has been in production since 2001 with over 1,500 cars built. While that's not exactly a volume seller, the number is significant to Aston Martin. If you've got the kind of money to consider a Vanquish purchase in the first place, why not go all the way to an S? Buyers are eligible for a complimentary driving course, which is definitely the way to go for drivers who want to get the most out of their high-dollar purchase. — Kelly Toepke
