Slow Striptease of Aston Martin One-77 Concept Set To End Friday

LAKE COMO, Italy — One of the slowest stripteases in recent memory will come to an end on Friday here when all the wraps come off the Aston Martin One-77 concept. The automaker on Thursday said it will show off everything, including "full running powertrain and the world premiere of the interior design."

At last month's 2009 Geneva Auto Show, the automaker displayed a skeletal-looking technical version of the One-77, which features hand-rolled aluminum panels. "Since then, the technical illustration has undergone painstaking hand craftsmanship to be developed into a complete car," Aston Martin said in a statement.

The 2011 Aston Martin One-77 is expected to command around $2 million. The automaker only expects to build 77 units. It is powered by a Cosworth-tuned 7.3-liter V12 that churns out 700-plus horsepower.

Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez said this weekend's reveal "is a major step in One-77's engineering program."
