GAYDON, England — Aston Martin has begun beating the drum for a new limited-edition supercar, the One-77, that is expected to make its public debut in early October at the 2008 Paris Auto Show.

Judging from the name of the company's teaser Web site, the One-77 will be built in a limited run of 77 copies. The car will feature a 7.0-liter V12 under a handmade aluminum skin and a carbon-fiber backbone chassis.

Aston's advance publicity is skimpy on details, but describes the One-77 as "the ultimate creative interpretation of the renowned British marque" and says the car "will deliver exhilarating performance for a strictly limited number of discerning customers."

The early speculation in Europe has the One-77 priced in Veyron country, at around $2 million.

To sign on for more information, see the One-77 Web site.
