GAYDON, England — The 2012 Aston Martin Cygnet will start at the U.S. equivalent of £30,995 (around $50K) when it goes on sale in the spring. Two special launch editions, "White" and "Black" herald the rollout of the premium commuter car.

Aston Martin spelled out details of the launch of the Cygnet on Thursday. No word yet on any plans for a U.S. rollout of the Cygnet, which is derived from the Toyota iQ, although Aston Martin said in a statement that it is "actively working on expanding market availability by 2012."

The Cygnet "White" edition features "Snow White" exterior paint, along with silver mesh exterior trim, chrome trim and "White Diamond" alloy wheels. The cabin gets white leather and satin chrome trim. The Cygnet "Black" edition gets "Magic Black" metallic paint with what Aston Martin calls a "deep sea green effect." Other exterior touches include matte black louvers and chrome trim. The cabin gets black leather seats and dark chrome trim.

The two launch models also come with a five-piece luggage set.

    This sucks :(
aston martin only has to make this because some dumb population act stating car manufactures need the average CO2 levels produced to be below a certain level and since nearly all astons cars have big v12s they needed to come out with this :(

Now, see...... if it only came in Silver I would have bought one .

Seriously , I would wait for the Toyota/Scion version to get here , put in some leather seats and save 13k.

Please, with all the posers out there that can now say they own an Aston, this thing will be a hit especially in south Florida and California.

Not bad. For a Hyundai or a Kia. See what you started, BMW. One Mini and now everyone wants to build a two-seat commuter car. When Rolls Royce built a smaller commuter car, they kept it real, even if it is the size of a 7 series and costs a quarter-mil. Funny how both of those brands are BMW properties and I am not even a BMW lover and I think they have the franchise for smaller desirable cars locked up.
