NÜRBURG, Germany — Aston Martin will take a pair of its new V12 Zagato endurance racers to Nürburgring this weekend for a four-hour "tune-up" race prior to the 24-hour main event on June 25-26.
The V12 Zagato racecar concept made an appearance last month at the 53rd ADAC ACAS H&R-Cup VLN race, following the car's debut at the Villa D'Este Concours.
At the 51st ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen VLN5 four-hour race this Saturday, one car will be piloted by a team of drivers headed by Aston CEO Ulrich Bez, and the other headed by One-77 Chief Engineer Chris Porritt.
Aston said the competition this weekend will be used to "refine race setup and allow further driver familiarization" with the V12 Zagato racecars.
Inside Line says: Live updates will be available via Aston Martin's Twitter feed.

I love how Aston is taking handcrafted bespoke cars and turning them into endurance racers. I'm sure one could argue BMW, Porsche etc all do this, but it seems more glamorous and romanticized when AM does it. :)

The back end looks like "Bloat" the puffer fish from Finding Nemo. Look out Aston, Disney may demand royalties!
Love the car!

This really is a lovely thing.
The first time I saw the AMV8 I couldn't imagine changing a line. The V12 car lost some of that beauty to my eye, but this V12 Zagato is somehow even more stunning than the original V8 car.
I couln't imagine changing a line.
