GAYDON, England — Saying it was going for "understated flair," Aston Martin on Friday rolled out Carbon Black special editions of the DBS and V12 Vantage. The special editions, which are swathed in black inside and out, will hit the market in March.
Pricing has not yet been announced, but Aston Martin said they are expected to be about 5 percent higher than the current base prices on the cars. The base DBS starts at $262,000, while the V12 Vantage starts at $209,000.
The two get Carbon Black metallic paint. "Each car will undergo 50 man-hours of hand painting," Aston Martin said in a statement. The V12 Vantage Carbon Black has a side strake made from carbon fiber backed by a black mesh, along with gloss black 10-spoke diamond-turned alloy wheels. A bright finished grille and front parking sensors round out the package.
The cabin is outfitted in Obsidian Black leather with silver contrast stitching. The lightweight seats are made from carbon fiber and Kevlar.
Customers who order the V12 Vantage Carbon Black Edition get a day on the company's performance driving course for free.

Black makes the DBS even more sinister. Shame it hides such a beautiful design. Black will never go out of style but the question on my mind is will there be an Aston Martin Cygnet Carbon Black Special Edition as well?
