LONDON — An Aston Martin team car that participated in Le Mans and the Mille Miglia fetched more than $900,000 at auction in London on Thursday, a record for a DB2. RM Auctions said the 1950 Aston Martin DB2 Team Car, number VMF64, was being offered for the first time in 52 years at the Automobiles of London auction.
RM Auctions and Sotheby's jointly offered 84 vehicles for sale at the event, including a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster, the only right-hand-drive example built, which sold for the top price of the event at $1,018,728. A 2005 CLK GTR coupe sold for $864,450. And a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet crossed the block at an unexpected $509,340 when it had been estimated to sell for under $100,000.
Official results from the auction are available at RM's Web site.

I'd still take the DB2... The thing is a classic beauty, not to mention its a far more practical to drive car.
The Benz seems like it'd be a pain in the A$$ to drive.

For 100,000 less I'd have taken the 2005 CLK GTR.
