PEBBLE BEACH, California — The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance excitement continues to build with the announcement that seven historic Alfa Romeo cars will be coming over from the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, the marque's museum in Arese, Italy. These and other Alfas will gather on Sunday, August 15.
The cars from the museum collection include the 1938 8C 2900 B Lungo, which, in 1947, was the last Alfa Romeo to win the original Mille Miglia, and a single-seater 1938 Gran Premio Tipo 158 Alfetta developed by Scuderia Ferrari.
Joining the museum pieces will be privately owned Concours entrants, including a 1942 6C 2500 Bertone coupe, fresh from a "major restoration" in Italy; a 1948 6C 2500 SS Competizione two-seat coupe, the only surviving member of a trio of racing cars from the year and a 1948-'51 Mille Miglia contestant; and a 1936 8C2900A Carrozzeria Spider, the only one of its kind still with original coachwork.
