The Milano, known internally by the program code 149, is essentially a five-door companion to the Alfa Romeo MiTo, replacing the long-in-the-tooth Alfa 147. The new Milano is due in Europe in spring 2010 and is on the list of Fiats and Alfas slated for export to the United States. The Alfa Milano is expected to reach U.S. showrooms in 2011.
The Milano will be joined by a successor to the Alfa 159, resurrecting the Giulia nameplate. Both models eventually may be assembled in Chrysler plants in North America.
Inside Line says: Based on looks alone, the Alfa Romeo Milano should make lots of Friends, provided it actually comes to the U.S. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
