    What Is It?

    Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Concept

    What's Special About It?

This gorgeous concept car takes its name from two sources: the original 8C cars of the '30s and '40s that utilized eight-cylinder engines and the 6C Competizione coupe that competed in the Mille Milgia in 1950. And not only does it draw its name from Alfas of the past, it also uses several design cues, such as the round rear light clusters that were prominent features of prior Alfa models. Built mostly out of carbon fiber, the 8C takes these cues from the past and turns them into a modern design that delivers both the looks and performance of a modern sports car. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter V8 running through the rear wheels and a six-speed manual gearbox while the suspension is a classic front and rear dual-wishbone design.

    What's Edmunds' Take?

Alfa Romeo may return to the States someday still, but until then we'll be satisfied with just looking at its concept cars. With lines that stop you in your tracks and the promise of performance that's equally as enticing, the 8C is one of the most captivating concept cars of the last several years. — Ed Hellwig
