    Acura TL A-SPEC Concept

    What's Special About It?

Reworked from top to bottom, this high-powered TL shows what Acura can do when it sets its mind on performance. The stock TL's already potent 3.2-liter V6 was modified with a high-flow intake, free-flowing exhaust and some internal improvements that yield an extra 30 horsepower for a total of 300. Its strong stance comes courtesy of a two-inch-wider track, lowered suspension, extended fender flares and an eye-catching set of custom 21-inch wheels. Cosmetic enhancements include a reworked grille and headlights, larger air intakes, an integrated spoiler and new taillights.

With such an aggressive exterior, Acura figured that it was only fitting that this TL should get an equally dramatic cabin to match. To that end, the entire cockpit was covered in red leather with aluminum and carbon accents. A panoramic glass roof gives the cabin a more spacious feel while custom-designed seats assure optimum comfort during spirited driving. Less enthusiastic drivers might also enjoy the Adaptive Cruise Control that uses a laser in the grille to automatically maintain a specified distance from cars ahead.

    What's Edmunds' Take?

It's not everyday that a manufacturer comes out with a concept based on a car that's already on sale, but we'll hand it to Acura for taking the time to show what its well-received TL might have in store for the future. With a high-performance A-SPEC package already on sale, this concept may not be anything more than a one-off show car, but considering how tough this TL looked on the show stage we wouldn't be surprised if some of its parts make their way onto the options list at some point. — Ed Hellwig
