September, 1998 -- A revised Acura 3.5RL, called the Honda Legend in Europe, was unveiled at the Paris Auto Show this week, highlighting changes that give the car a bolder, more aggressive appearance. A pronounced grille, reminiscent of the Lexus LS 400, and stronger character lines along the hood make the restyled RL look less like an Accord and more like a pricey luxury import.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps replace the halogen lamps of last year's model. The headlamps are also self-adjusting this year to make sure that they do not blind oncoming traffic with their bright bluish hue.
Changes to the RL's interior include replacing the horn buttons with a large horn pad, and adding steering wheel-mounted stereo and cruise control buttons to the steering wheel. The center console has been slathered in wood veneer, and the instruments and controls feature revised graphics for improved visibility.
