WASHINGTON — The 2010 Acura MDX is the subject of a recall because a missing bolt means a trim piece may not be properly secured to the A-pillar, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The NHTSA says 644 MDX vehicles are involved in the recall, and apparently all have been inspected and repaired at this point. Therefore, MDX owners will not be notified about this particular recall, according to the federal government.
"A bolt used to attach an interior trim piece to either the driver- or passenger-side A-pillar may not have been installed during manufacturing," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "In the event of a crash resulting in side curtain airbag deployment, the trim piece may not remain properly secured to the A-pillar, increasing the risk of injury to the driver and/or front-seat passenger."
Owners of the aforementioned MDX can contact the NHTSA hotline at (888) 327-4236.

Still waiting for Honda/Acura to admit the problem with 2nd gear grind and 3rd gear pop-out in their 6-speed manual transmission in the 2002-2006 RSX Type S. Denied for repair twice by Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville, FL.

Honda is doing just fine. Better than Toyota. Better than GM.

"There is that trademark Honda quality everyone is telling me about."
Jepontiac, can you be any more ignorant? Honda/Acura just like every manufacturer has recalls and TSB's. Nobody ever said Honda products never break or don't have issues. However, the reputation they do have, they've earned fair and square. Having a good reputation for quality, reliability and durability doesn't mean problems DON'T surface.
"And what about that design department they have over there now. I'm guessing they have a beaver as a mascot at Acura."
Honda design isn't all that bad with the exception of the new CrossTour as that thing is beyond ugly. The Pilot isn't all the pretty either. As for Acura, I'm unsure of where their design language is going but I really think it was purposely done for attention (negative or positive) as Acura has always been the forgotten luxury brand. I think the designers and others in charge purposely wanted polarizing designs and wanted similar reactions to the Bangled BMW's. The bad side is Acura went a bit too far as the grill just looks platicky and cheap. A timeless and elegant design is what they should have shot for. Acura, you can offer a unique design that's also timeless and classy. You've done it before.

I'm not condoning recalls in any way, i'm saying they happen. Over the past few years GM has moved far from badge engineering even though many cars are "rebadged" the differences in interior and exterior are have gotten better than just a grille change. Still GM has many more different and distinct offering (than Honda)that can't be clomped into the rebadged group (I'm not a Honda hater just tiered of GM getting the short straw)

I know this article is about a recall, but I saw an updated MDX on the road today and I have to say that the new Acura grille doesn't really look all that bad on it. I'm not saying that it looks gorgeous. I would still prefer the old grille or another grille design on it. But it's not ugly either on the MDX.

@FirstClass:
Condoning recalls just because GM has many different brands is stupid. Moreover, before GM offloaded a bunch of brands, they were all badge re-engineered, so they are the same cars sold under different brands i.e. Chev equinox, saturn vue etc. That's why you could still blame it all under GM because the cars underneath were still the same.

Is it fair to compare Honda to GM in recalls? Every brand has Recalls and GM has many automotive brands under its badge (unlike Honda) and I can't say poorjoe is being any more unfair than jepontiac. GM recently had recalls issued on their image car Corvette and the new Terrain as well as wipers, tire-pressure monitoring, steering fluid leak and parking brake. Honda has a list of comparable size for Faulty wipers, welds, wiring, airbag inflator, brake hoses and nose masks to name a few. Every time a GM car is recalled it gets burned at the stake but I think it should be noted how many diverse brands GM builds.

Honda quality isn't a problem, but their styling is. I might even consider GM or Ford if they keep this ugliness up.

Finding and fixing a problem is what high quality manufacturers do.
GM waits until people die or the drive the company into bankruptcy before they admit to, let alone fix, a problem.
Oh, and if you only know Honda quality because of what you are told, keep your opinions to yourself until you have first-hand knowledge.
